Claiming Contact Lens Rebates in Australia Lensworld.com.au

It’s a new year, and for most Australians, that means a fresh pot of money is sitting in their health fund waiting to be used. Since we've just entered 2026, your optical extras have likely reset, giving you a prime opportunity to stock up on contact lenses without the heavy price tag.

At Lensworld.com.au, we are registered providers for most major Australian health funds.

Here is the fact-checked guide on how to maximise your 2026 benefits when shopping with us.

1. The "Use It or Lose It" Rule

Most major Australian health funds (like Medibank, and NIB) operate on a calendar year basis. This means your optical limits reset on January 1st.

If you didn’t use your benefit in 2025, that money is gone. However, as of January 2026, your full annual limit—typically between $150 and $300—is now available.

Note: A few funds, like AHM and Defence Health, reset on a financial year basis (July 1st). If you're with them, you're currently halfway through your benefit period!

Prescription Validity: By ordering, you certify you have a valid prescription (usually less than 24 months old).

Important: Each policy is different. Your total refund depends on your specific level of cover and any recent claims you've made. We recommend checking your current entitlements with your fund before you buy.

Don't see your fund? If your provider isn't on our list, your claim may be rejected. However, we are constantly growing! Please let us know if your fund is missing, and we will contact them to request becoming a registered provider.

4. How to Claim: A 3-Step Process

We’ve made the process seamless so you can get your money back fast.

Step 1: Order Your Lenses

Select your contact lenses (Acuvue, Biofinity, Dailies Total 1, etc.) and your prescription. Ensure the name on the order matches the name on your health fund card.

Step 2: Get Your Itemised Invoice

Once your order is complete, you can download your invoice directly from your Lensworld.com.au account. Our invoices include all required Item Codes (e.g., 812) and our Provider Number.

Step 3: Upload via Your App
