CareFlight looks after around 8500 patients each year, bringing hospital-level care interstate, offshore and internationally through a variety of aviation services. Established in 1986 a group of people shared a vision to create a new kind of medical retrieval service in Australia. This group believed that severely injured patients requiring on the scene medical attention should be attended by critical care specialists, from this vision CareFlight was born.
Beginning as a single helicopter daylight-only operation with one doctor on duty, CareFlight provided care for some four patients a month. From there the demand for the critical care service increased along with vital support from the community, the organisation evolved and expanded. Now CareFlight doctors and nurses operate from six bases, on helicopters, turbo-prop air ambulances and medi-jets, to destinations throughout Australia and beyond.
LensWorld.com.au shares the importance of this vision with CareFlight. We are proud to support them as a corporate partner, alongside important Australian businesses to ensure more patients receive urgent and specialised medical treatment, regardless of their location or remoteness.
